Are Glass Straws Safe?

Our glass straws are free from BPA, lead free, toxin free and don’t contain any plastics or mineral oils. An added benefit of our straws not containing any harmful chemicals is not only that they are safe for use, but also do not affect the taste of liquids when being used compared to other plastic alternatives. Each straw features rounded corners and a shatterproof construction. Our glass straws are easy to clean and are also dishwasher safe.

Can Glass Straws Break?

Each VASO glass straw is manufactured in Germany from highest quality, shock and temperature resistant glass. Using the straw as you would any other glassware will not cause any damage, although instances from dropping on hard surface may do, so treat each straw as you would any other glassware. If you care for your glass straw it will have a long lifespan.

How Much Do Glass Straws Cost?

Glass straws can vary on price, many lower quality products are being sold on online marketplaces that do not meet the quality, sustainability and strength of VASO’s product, so are much cheaper. Typically our range of straws will equate to the same price of a pack of plastic straws, but are reusable, sustainable and will far outlive the plastic alternatives whilst delivering many other benefits.

Are Glass Straws Recyclable?

Our entire range of glass straws are manufactured are fully recyclable. Simply drop them in to a glass recycling bin. Other glass straws may be manufactured with glass similar to that found within Pyrex glassware which cannot be recycled.

Are Glass Straws Dishwasher Safe?

Yes. The entire range of VASO glass straws are dishwasher safe which makes cleaning and caring for your straw a breeze. Other glass straws may be made from inferior glass and may be damaged if cleaned in a dishwasher, so always check with the manufacturer or retailer.

Is There BPA In A Glass Straw?

VASO glass straws do not contain BPA which avoids health risks associated to alternatives that contain it. BPA stands for Bisphenol A which is an industrial chemical that is used to make certain plastics and resins and is often used to manufacture plastic straws. There is research that suggests BPA can seep in to food or beverages and pose potential health risks. This is one of the many reasons why a BPA free straw, such as ours is beneficial over traditional alternatives.

Do Glass Straws Affect Taste?

No, quality glass straws do not affect taste as they are nonporous. Unlike alternatives which contain other materials that may affect taste, our range of glass straws are made from nonporous glass and are free from toxins, mineral oils, BPA and other materials that may cause tainting of taste.

How Do I Keep My Glass Straw Clean?

Cleaning glass straws is an easy process, simply wash them as you would do any other glassware. Our straws can be cleaned by placing them in your dishwasher as each straw is durable and dishwasher safe. Alternatively, you can clean your glass straws in the sink with clean, warm water and washing up liquid followed by a quick rinse under the tap. We do not supply cleaning brushes with our range which other brands do as these can become dirty and need replacing which creates more landfill as they are usually made from metal stems with plastic bristles. After all our products are designed to be sustainable, recyclable and environmentally friendly.
